The Wisconsin Volunteer Coordinators Association (WVCA) recently awarded Barbara Horneck with the 2015 Professional Achievement Award at their annual May conference in Appleton.
Horneck has been the Director of the Sheboygan Area School District Foster Grandparent (FGP) Program for 20 years.
Horneck was nominated for her dedication and commitment to the program as well as her strong leadership in the field of recruitment and program management. Over the years, she has recruited, trained, placed, and supervised 35 to 40 volunteers each year who serve as tutors and mentors 6 to 30 hours weekly in more than 75 elementary classrooms throughout the Sheboygan Area School District.
Additionally, she has been a mentor and resource for other FGP supervisors throughout the state, most importantly in the area of program impact and outcome based reporting.
The Foster Grandparent Program has been sponsored by the Sheboygan Area School District since 1975.
Horneck was nominated for the award by LuAnn Paepke, FGP Grant Coordinator at
the Bureau of Aging and Disability Resources, Dept. of Health Services.
