Congratulations to the Lincoln-Erdman 2014-15 Math Olympiad Team on an outstanding year. Eighteen students in fourth and fifth grades participated in Math Olympiad, which offers math problem-solving contests designed to stimulate enthusiasm for math, teach major strategies for problem-solving and foster mathematical creativity.
Over the course of 5 months, the students performed work on mathematical problems two to three grades levels above their own. Mr. Brad Washuleski, Lincoln-Erdman Reading and Math Interventionist and Math Olympiad Advisor said “These students have exceeded expectations and have raised the bar in their accomplishments.” Upon completion of the contest, students had collectively earned 7 silver medals, 4 bronze medals, and 7 ribbons.
Math Olympiad is offered as an enrichment program for students who excel in Math and benefit from the higher-level learning in that subject area.
